Almost There....

I am so close, I can taste it. "Only" 11 more rows to go. I put the only in quotes because that is still roughly 5000 stitches away, but given Julia's previous calculations of this shawl being comprised of something like 47,000 stitches (why do we knitters do this to ourselves - the stitch counting? ) thats really hardly anything, right? Right.

I bought a cross stitch kit on eBay - a beautiful Nativity scene. The final product was 12"x16", almost solid-stitched at 18 stitches per inch. 62,208 stitches. It's been languishing for years because I can't make myself start it.
The shawl is looking lovely. I think I like your blue one best.

I won't let myself count the stitches until I finish. So far it's working... otherwise I never could've done a 6 foot long laceweight scarf in garter stitch. *shudder* Even then, it took me 8 months!

5,000 stitches to knit,
5,000 stitches to knit,
knit one more,
move it along,
4,999 stitches to knit

RIGHT!! woot!
and you got the holes in it, which for me, is what makes the shawl mothy. once you get past those, it's all a wonderful rhythmic rock n roll to the end! and the last 3 or 4 rows are all-knit rows! they hardly even count . . .
you'll be blocking by sunday, latest

You can do it!
It's looking fabulous, by the way. I love the color. Every time I see a post about this shawl, I'm weakening. I have only one shawl under my belt, but I'm itching to start a new one.

Somehow, someway, you all are going to have to get a picture of your moths together.

Knit on! You're almost there.
